Van Mahotsav Celebration

"Trees exhale for us so that we can inhale them to stay alive. Can we ever forget that? Let us love trees with every breath we take until we perish." - Munia Khan

As part of Salwan Junior School, Naraina's clean and green initiative, a tree plantation programme was organized on Thursday, 5th July, 2018.

The first sapling was planted by Hon'ble Chairman of our school, Mr. Michael Dias in the presence of  Our school's  Director, Mr. Rajesh Suri and our Principal, Ms. Anuradha Mathur. Our Eco - Warriors, along with the teachers and the school gardener, participated enthusiastically in the programme by planting saplings of flowering plants in the school garden.. It was an ideal opportunity to instill the value of social responsibility in the students by forming a personal connect between them and the trees.

The overall objective of this campaign was to sensitize the students to take care of their environment. The declining number of trees has brought a major change in our lives and in the climate as well. So there is a dire necessity of festivals such as Van Mahotsav, to restore our green cover. To mark this occasion, our students made posters with slogans stating the importance of trees. The significance of this activity was to strengthen the bond of love and care for trees.

The programme concluded with children taking a pledge to save their environment and a motto, " Plant a tree and add a new friend in your life."

Earth Day - Special Assembly

Report on Earth Day

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”
Salwan Junior School observed the Earth Day in the school premises in a meaningful and thought provoking manner with an inspiring thought, dance and song highlighting the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment. The celebrations started with a special assembly wherein students expressed their views about how to reduce pollution and agreed to prioritize Earth’s protection. Students dressed up in green attires holding their posters, painted with their thoughts on conserving nature. The little Salwanians promised to set an example to the society by acting responsibly in saving their earth.
The whole school was filled with heart - warming ecologically poignant artworks and displays. The most prominent was beautiful table mats prepared by our students with thoughtful and inspiring messages.
They pledged to make their surroundings a ‘No – Plastic’ Zone. The day turned fun – filled with a creative activity of “paper – Bag making” focussing on the use of 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. It provided a platform to the zestful Salwanians to display their artistic skills and to showcase their awareness of conserving natural resources.

“Together we can make everyday Earth Day and each one of us can make a difference in our own special way.”

DEMONSTRATION FUNCTION – NURSERY

“In an effective classroom, students should not only know what they are doing, they should also know why and how.”
- Harry Wong

Demonstration program was organized for the parents of Class Nursery on 9th and 10th May 2018, which gave them a peep into the classrooms. The class set up was created in the school foyer where parents watched the children, as audience. They were able to understand the happenings in the classroom and became aware about the strengths of their children along with where more effort is required for the child for him/her to do better. Activities like self- introduction, hygiene tools, body parts, rhymes related to these were showcased in front of the parents. The children were also involved in the activities like nut and bolt, beading, zipping and buttoning. These activities help them to prepare them for doing small task on their own. These activities will help them to close their bag, open and close their water bottle, dress and undress themselves etc. The program ended with where children passed through the commando crawl.
