A festival of giving new life to the plants,
A
celebration called Van Mahotsav was celebrated by Salwan Junior School under
the aegis of Salwan Education Trust.
As a part of Salwan Community
outreach programme, SJS organized a Plantation Drive at MCD School Grounds,
B-Block, Naraina Vihar.
The first plant was rooted by Hon’ble
Chairman, Salwan Junior School, Maj Gen J K Kapoor. Thereafter Hon’ble Councilor Naraina, Shri
Pramod Tanwar motivated the students of both the schools by planting a sapling
and encouraging the students, to preserve the green-cover of the Earth. The plantation drive brought the students of
both MCD school and Salwan Junior School together on one platform. Our students got an opportunity to interact
with their counterparts of a Government School and know about their learning
experiences.
The principals of both the schools,
Ms. Nisha Obheroi and Mrs. Gurcharan Kaur also marked the green achievement
drive’s success by planting a tree each.
Each student and all the teachers
were upbeat about the initiative. It was
a hands-on experience for the students wherein they interacted with the
gardeners of MCD, MCD Councillor and the
administrative workforce of the local Government authority as well.
Also, KG children planted saplings of
tulsi, aloe vera and pudina with their little hands along with the help of the
school gardener in our school's herbal garden area and contributed in their small way of
keeping up the promise of “Green Delhi, Clean Delhi.”
In all, the drive was a condense
Learning experience for everyone involved.
