Celebrating GRANDPARENTS DAY!!

"Grandparents are family's greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy. The greatest storytellers, the keepers of the traditions that linger on in cherished memory and the family's strongest foundation."

Salwan Junior School, Naraina also envisions every child’s holistic development in partnership with the caretakers which puts both parents and grandparents at the top-most pedestal followed by teachers, peers, society and so on.

Keeping up with the same belief and honouring the presence of grandparents in contouring the personality and life of the child, Kindergarten Class celebrated Grandparents Day on Saturday, 20 September 2014 in the school foyer.

All grandparents of KG children were invited with the children for the event. All Dadajis, Dadijis, Nanajis and Nanijis were part of the programme woven with respect, love and warmth by the Kindergarteners.
Children first welcomed the guests with the MC (Ms. Madhu Sethi) and the event was initiated with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by school Principal Ms. Nisha Obheroi and two grandparents. Afterwards, the KG Choir group welcomed everyone with a school prayer, school song followed by a melodious rendition “O Grandma , Grandpa.” Everyone was taken over by the light hearted but emotional excerpts shared the MC which made all the grandparents shared their tales of growing up again with their grandchildren.

The school Chairman Maj. Gen. J.K. Kapoor also addressed the audience and highlighted the indespensible role of elders in day to day lives of the children no matter how big they grow.

The two little MC’s of KG class also welcomed the grandparents by highlighting their importance in their lives which was echoed by all the children. They showed them their love by performing a dance followed by an Interaction Session between the children and the grandparents. Kindergarteners asked few questions from them and were answered with love. Grandparents shared their experiences with the young ones and motivated them to carry the Indian culture of ‘being with the parents and taking care of them forever.’
In the end, the young MC’s shared their beautiful rhyme on grandparents and the elderly in turn gave them blessing sand showered their love. The program was summarized with a video presentation of photographs, small anecdotes by children and their parents for the grandparents, messages which showed the love and bonding shared between families. This was all part of the surprise which was prepared by everyone together with the teachers.
The little Salwanians also prepared a Table Mat as a Thank You token with their hand impressions along with few lines showing their love for our elders, which was given after the event to both maternal and paternal grandparents.
The entire experience was heart-warming for our elders as their grandchildren recognized their incomparable role and importance as “Children need something stable to hang on to — a culture connection, a sense of their own past, a hope for their own future. Most of all, they need what grandparents can give them."

"Teachers, I believe, are the most responsible and important members of society because their professional efforts affect the fate of the earth."
5th September was a day full of excitement, enthusiasm and exhilaration for children!! Teachers’ Day is always a grand affair in preparation and celebration by children at Salwan Junior School, Naraina. Our enthusiasts of Class V along with Principal ma’am Ms. Nisha Obheroi plan and work together towards making this day special for all the teachers. Similarly, this year children planned an entire function wherein they sang songs,  about importance of this day and  gave dance performances and made jingles for each and every teacher and felicitated them with lovely hand made greeting cards and beautiful plants.
All the teachers had great time in reliving their childhood with dancing and singing with the children and their colleagues together.
