Ibadat –e Ramadan

"Prayer is when you talk to God, meditation   is when you listen to God"
The Salwan Education Trust celebrated Ibadat –e Ramadan on 4th July at Salwan Public School Rajinder Nagar. The Programme was attended by the students from Salwan Schools, parents, alumni and many respectable guests.

The special Programme started with welcome of the guests by the students of salwan schools. The eminent chief guest along with other dignitaries planted 75 fruit bearing trees in the campuses of Salwan School. This was followed by the recital of Dua or prayer by the school choir. It was a wonderful song which reaffirmed our faith in God. .

The highlight of the day was the narration of story of Ramadan through Dastangoithe  lost art of Urdu storytelling by the students.Dastangoi is a combination of two Persian words, 'dastan' and 'goi', which means to tell a dastan (story),the lost art of Urdu storytelling .

This was followed by an interactive session of the chief guest with the students . He said that such celebrations go a long way in helping the students inculcate good values so that they grow up to become compassionate, caring, well- informed and responsible individuals.
Dalai Lama once said, ” We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves”, Peace is a journey of a thousand miles and must be taken one step at a time. So let us all commence our journey of peace. The students have put together this morning assembly of song, dance, drama and poetry to convey the message that Ramadan heralds new vistas to make fresh beginnings and shape the course of our destiny. The programme encapsulates ideas of great people who realized their dreams, the need to start that change with ourselves.

The programme concluded distibution of saplings and Eid goodies to the guests. In our school also children planted fruit bearing trees on the same day.
