DEEPAWALI

"LIGHT THE LAMP OF WISDOM, DISPEL THE DARKNESS OF IGNORANCE"
The celebration of Diwali, came alive at SJS on 17 October, 2017 when the whole school wore a festive look with well decorated diyas and lanterns adorning the corridors with bright colors. Students of class I-A celebrated this festival of light with great fanfare, devotion and excitement. The Diwali song and the rhythmic dance moves mesmerized the audience. The skit presented by the little ones highlighted the message of clean, safe, peaceful and eco-friendly diwali. This was followed by the message from the school's principal-"The light within us must help to dispel the darkness and spread love, warmth and kindness."







THE ACT OF GIVING AND SHARING IS CELEBRATING DIWALI IN ITS TRUE SENSE

Gandhi Jayanti

"A MAN IS BUT A PRODUCT OF HIS THOUGHTS, WHAT HE THINKS HE BECOMES"
                                                                  - MAHATMA GANDHI 
 GANDHI JAYANTI IS CELEBRATED TO COMMEMORATE  THE BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FATHER OF OUR NATION. THIS YEAR SALWANIANS CELEBRATED BAPU'S BIRTHDAY WITH GREAT ZEAL, ENTHUSIASM AND PATRIOTISM.
THE ASSEMBLY BEGAN WITH A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO GANDHI JI THROUGH DHRUV'S SPEECH, IN WHICH HE SHARED ANECDOTES FROM GANDHIJI'S LIFE AND ENCOURAGED THE AUDIENCE TO FOLLOW THE PATH OF PEACE AND NON- VIOLENCE. STUDENTS OF CLASS V VERY WELL HIGHLIGHTED THE PRINCIPLES THAT GUIDED GANDHIJI'S LIFE AND THEY WERE:-" HEAR NO EVIL, SPEAK NO EVIL AND SEE NO EVIL."THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY A MELODIOUS RENDITION  BY THE SCHOOL CHOIR AND A BEAUTIFUL DANCE PERFORMANCE "DASHAVTARAS." 
LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST THE STUDENTS ALSO SHOWCASED THAT CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS THROUGH A MEANINGFUL ENACTMENT.
THE PRINCIPAL, MS. NISHA OBHEROI ASKED THE AUDIENCE TO NOTICE THE TRANSITION IN THE LIFE OF MAHATMA GANDHI AS WAS EVIDENT IN HIS ATTIRE AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF HIS LIFE. SHE HIGHLIGHTED THAT HE WORE A KHADI DHOTI TO BE ONE OF THE COMMON MAN OF INDIA AND REFUSED ANY PRIVILEGES THAT COULD HAVE COME EASILY TO SUCH A MAN.

DUSSHERA

"A TIME FOR CELEBRATION, A TIME FOR VICTORY OF GOOD OVER EVIL, A TIME WHEN THE WORLD SEE THE EXAMPLE OF POWER OF GOOD,LET US CONTINUE THE SAME TRUE SPIRIT THIS DUSSHERA"

Keeping the festive spirit alive, Dusshera was celebrated on 29th September, 2017 at SJS. To mark Lord Rama' s victory over Ravana and to reinforce the message that good always triumphs over evil, the effigy of Ravana was burnt along with which the students promised to shun their bad habits(like lying, cheating etc). The celebrations started with a special assembly wherein, the participants mesmerized the entire audience with their bhajan recitals, glorifying Lord Rama and his kin, his valor and righteousness. The highlight of the day was the puppet show on Ramayana that made the audience enthralled  and enthused. From the birth of Lord Rama to the abduction of Sita, from the Vaanar Sena fighting the monsters to Ravana's monstrous laugh, the students of Nursery and KG showcased it all and captivated everyone.


"Everyday sun rise to give us a message that darkness will always be beaten by light. Let us follow the same natural rule and enjoy the festival of good defeats evil."

HINDI DIWAS

A NATION IS DUMB WITHOUT A NATIONAL LANGUAGE

"In our thirst for exploring new horizons of knowledge and learning new languages, we should not forget our mother tongue," was the message given by the students of SJS on 4th October, 2017.
 Hindi is our national language, a language which gives us the identity of being an Indian and stand apart from the crowd of countless many.To celebrate the origin and promote the appropriate usage of our mother tongue, SJS celebrated Hindi Diwas with complete spirit and gusto. As part of observing 'HINDIDIWAS,' a special assembly marked the occasion with the students highlighting the importance of Hindi in our lives. The main attraction of the programme was the role enactment by the students of class V, who were dressed up as famous Hindi authors like GULZAR, SUBHADRA KUMARI CHAUHAN, AMRITA PRITAM etc and beautifully recited their poems to apprise the students about them followed by some interesting facts about them by Ms. Madhu.
The day was celebrated with an aim to rekindle the love for India's official language among the young Salwanians.
